Welcome to the School of Nursing of Shandong University! We¡¯d like to cooperate with each college from every country and build up friendship as well! The School of Nursing (the former nursing department of Shandong Medical University),established in 1985,is among the first to restore higher education in China£¬and it was authorized to carry out M.D.program in 2000. In 2004 we became the second school in China to offer Doctor¡¯s degree. Since merged into Shandong University, our school has been supported by the administrators both in education of faculty and international communication, which makes our school more competent and one of the top nursing schools in China.
Our school possesses five research departments including nursing foundamentals, nursing education, nursing management, nursing psychology and clinical nursing. We own a laboratory center as well ,which covers an area of 840 ©Oand is equipped with facilities of over RMB 400 Yuan, and ALS advanced compounding facilities is available here. The laboratory for basic nursing was assessed as one among the first class laboratories by the National Ministry of Education in 2002-year evaluation and also assessed as one of the standardized laboratories by Shandong University in 2003. The nursing building for teaching and research is planned as the key projects of 2005.
The school has a young dynamic faculty with great potential, among whom 19 have a title of professor or associate professor, 6 work as master¡¯s advisor, 2 have doctorate, 9 have masterate and 6 are studying for doctorate, we engage 3 visiting professors and 3 academic experts as well. In recent years, they have assumed more than 30 research projects and three accomplishments gained provincial scientific and technological awards with 1 second prize and 2 third prizes. In addition, they have published more than 400 treatise, 2 of which were embodied by SCI. At present, 13 research projects are undergoing, 1 project funded by National natural science foundation, 1 by Ministry of Health, 1 by Department of Science and Technology of Shandong province, 2 by Department of Education of Shandong, 3 by Public Health Department of Shandong and 4 by our university.
Since 2000,our school has currently enrolled 16 graduate students and five have finished school. Among the graduates, all of them are highly praised by their employers, two work as teacher in colleges, one pursues study for doctorate, and one works in hospital. And now our school sets five research missions: nursing education research, nursing psychology research, nursing administration research , clinical nursing research ,molecular research on heath and aging.
In recent years, our school has endeavored to develop collaboration worldwide. Till now we have carried through cooperation and academic communication with 8 schools in other countries and areas. Many projects with nursing department of Karolinska Institute of Sweden and Hong Kong polytechnic university have been put into operation including academic exchange, collaboration in scientific research, visiting scholars, students exchange, etc. We all staff and students welcome more friends from all over the world!
